To honour Pride month, we put together a Twitter thread of all times Miley Cyrus has been an ally and a supporting member of the LGBTQ+ community.
From opening up to her mom about her sexuality, expressing her love for women, as well as men, when she was only 14 years old; the start of her Happy Hippie Foundation in 2014; and her Mother’s Daughter music video in 2019, which included performers such as Aaron Philips, a black trans girl; Lacey Baker, a non-binary skateboarder; and Casil McArthur, a transgender male model, as well as so many other performers speaking about finding power and freedom in their own self-expression. Miley has been an LGBTQ activist, icon and idol.
Miley Cyrus took part during Global Citizen’s ‘Global Goal: Unite For Our Future’ the summit!
If we’re going to end COVID-19, we need to end COVID-19 for all people, everywhere. That’s why the Global Goal: Unite for Our Future campaign is calling on world leaders to commit the billions of dollars needed to deliver testing, treatments, and vaccines equally for everyone. You can take action to support the campaign here.
Beauty 2 The Streetz is a non-profit organisation based in Los Angeles that provides make-up, showers, hair colour, and more for homeless women in Skid Row. The founder, Shirley Raines, recently posted an update on Twitter and Instagram thanking Miley Cyrus & The Happy Hippie Foundation for donating $30,000 towards them purchasing a new van to allow them to help more people.
“Thank you Miley Cyrus & Happy Hippie Foundation!
I founded Beauty2thestreetz as a mission to help broken people rediscover their beauty and as this nonprofit has grown I’ve been lucky enough to meet many beautiful people.
I’d like to thank Miley Cyrus and Happy Hippie Foundation for being BEAUTIFUL people who have shown us such kindness and who are actively working to support the under-served. Because of your generous donation of $30,000 we have surpassed our fundraising goal and will be able to purchase a van to expand our efforts in serving the homeless community of Los Angeles.
Thank you for your support and belief in our work.
We love you!”

Miley Cyrus has teamed up with Marc Jacobs to release a $175 pink hoodie benefitting Planned Parenthood. The star announced the news on her Instagram Tuesday, using the hashtags #WomensRightsAreHumanRights and #DONTFUCKWITHMYFREEDOM.
The limited-edition cotton sweatshirt features a screen-print of Cyrus on the front, with the insignia, “Don’t F❤️ ck With My Freedom.” The back reads, “Miley Cyrus x Marc Jacobs,” and the long sleeves are printed with, “The Charity Hoodie Marc Jacobs.”
All proceeds from the jacket will go to Planned Parenthood.
Miley Cyrus is mobilizing her Facebook followers to make donations for migrant children who have been separated from their families.
The pop singer launched a fundraiser for KIND (Kids in Need of Defense) through the social network’s new feature allowing Pages (public figures and businesses) to lead campaigns directly.
The Pages update is one of Facebook’s two new fundraising features; the other prompts users to establish recurring monthly contributions to nonprofits when using the “Donate” button.
The Facebook tweaks follow a viral fundraiser on the social network benefitting families separated at the U.S./Mexico border as part of the Trump administration’s “zero tolerance” policy. The movement, the most successful in Facebook’s history, launched with an initial goal of $1,500 and has gone on to earn over $20 million from over 30 countries for Texas refugee charity RAICES, which offers legal services to separated families.
Miley Cyrus never meant to start a war. But a bidding war? That’s a different story.
The 25-year-old singer is parting with the cherry-colored Doc Martens she sported in her infamous “Wrecking Ball” music video — for a good cause.
The shoes are up for auction ahead of the My Friend’s Place 30th Anniversary Gala event taking place on Saturday. The nonprofit resource center provides life-changing services to assist and inspire homeless youth to become self-sufficient.
While the starting bid is $1,000, the kicks are worth an estimated $5,000.
Miley Cyrus gave an emotional performance of her 2009 hit “The Climb” during the March For Our Lives gun control rally in Washington, D.C., on Saturday (March 24).
Wearing a simple gray sweatshirt with the hashtag #MSDStrong, part of a fundraising effort for Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida, Cyrus delivered the heartwarming song to a supportive crowd that sang along to every word. The pop star also held up a sign reading “Never Again” to show her support for the cause.
This weekend, millions of people came together nationwide and around the world to participate in the WOMEN’S MARCH. The march was a bold statement of solidarity and support for equality for ALL Americans, regardless of gender, race or sexual orientation. Miley led a group of Happy Hippies at the March and spoke on the main stage alongside Barbara Streisand, Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, Demi Lovato, Kerry Washington, Tracy Ellis Ross, and so many other powerful women. Miley personally introduced Sarah Kate Ellis, President of GLAAD, highlighting their revolutionary work for the LGBTQ community.

Miley Cyrus has stopped crying and started rallying people to take action in their communities.
“No more crying coming from me,” the singer said in a new Instagram video. “I am accepting and hopeful, inspired and smiling. As a reaction to this shocking election, Happy Hippie and I are launching our newest campaign, #HopefulHippies.”
The new initiative will encourage people to agitate for change at the local level. “I’m asking you to get involved in your own community and make a commitment to the issues you care about, whether it’s donating, volunteering, or showing your support,” Cyrus wrote in the video’s caption.
“I’d like to start with the first pledge and say myself and Happy Hippie are putting education for young people at the very top of our list of priorities in honor, of course, of Hillary Clinton,” she said. In the caption, she clarified that she’d be partnering with DonorsChoose to support American schools.
“If you need ideas to get you started, check out HappyHippies.org to find local opportunities near you supporting the issues we care about,” Cyrus wrote.
