Miley Cyrus’s full appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show airs today, where in addition to donating $500,000 to Hurricane Harvey relief, the singer also discussed her life with fiancé Liam Hemsworth. DeGeneres had a clever little way to get Cyrus to spill some particularly intimate details about the two, using Cyrus’s recent Cosmopolitan cover as an excuse to ask multiple choice quiz questions from vintage ’70s Cosmo magazines.
And these were pretty raunchy questions. Hearing just the beginning of the first one—”your sex life with your lover—”—was enough to get Cyrus flustered. “My grandma’s in the audience!” Cyrus pointed out.
But in true Miley style, she did answer frankly. DeGeneres asked, “Your sex life with your lover can best be compared to: a) a roller coaster ride, b) a luxury cruise or c) a commuter trip on a concorde—”
Miley Cyrus taught Ellen DeGeneres how to feel “Younger Now.”
The TV host invited the singer onto The Ellen DeGeneres Showto help her better understand millennials.
“One thing people my age don’t understand are millennials,” DeGeneres, 59, said, “and I don’t like ignorance. So, I want us all to be open and try to understand one another. So, I asked one of my friends to help me bridge the gap between millennials and my generation.”
In a segment the host referred to as “Mileyennial,” DeGeneres asked Cyrus, 24, a series of questions about the younger generation. Here are a few things they covered:
“Food photos are just kind of like a celebration of life,” Cyrus explained. “I think we take, you know, food for granted and a photo helps remind us of the beauty that’s in front of us every single day.”
Cyrus told DeGeneres that she shared her own food photo this summer to celebrate the fact that she’s vegan.
A weird thing that happened during the songwriting process: I wrote a song on my record in a dream…I dreamt my sis Noah and I were in my car on the way to the movie, a song came on the radio and it was Noah’s FAVORITE song! She said everyone was loving it…it’s a “smash” then I said “I wish I wrote it”… I woke up… and DID!
Miley Cyrus performed a moving acoustic rendition of her new single “Malibu” on Elvis Duran and the Morning Show Tuesday.
Cyrus easily flipped the breezy pop-rock track into an unplugged gem featuring the twangy interplay of two acoustic guitars. But Cyrus’ vocals remained at the forefront as she delivered the smoky verses and choruses of “Malibu” and paraded about an array of impressive vocal runs.
Cyrus also spoke with host Elvis Duran about her new single, noting the song’s lovestruck lyrics aren’t necessarily about a relationship, but rather self-care. “It can so easily be generalized into a love song,” Cyrus said. “I had to really heal myself individually, and then this song – about finding a new love with an old love, maybe you’re finding a new freedom – is also about individuality and the freedom in that. And realizing that certain doors lead you to one place you never imagined you would be, and if that can be through a person, that’s really awesome.”
“Malibu” marked a stark sonic shift for Cyrus, who returned to her rock and country roots after her hip-hop-heavy 2013 effort, Bangerz, and her 2015 psychedelic trip with the Flaming Lips, Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz. The track will appear on Cyrus’ as-yet-untitled LP, which is expected to arrive later this year. Cyrus recorded her new album with producer/multi-instrumentalist Oren Yoel.
Miley Cyrus has grown and evolved quite a bit since her days on Hannah Montana, but the 24-year-old pop star can still look back with a smile.
Cyrus stopped by Radio Disney on Thursday, where she was surprised with a video of her audition tape for the Disney Channel show from over 11 years ago, and she couldn’t get over how adorably young and precious she used to be.
“My t-shirt says, ‘I Should Have My Own TV Show,'” Cyrus noted of her audition tape ensemble, before lip syncing along with her younger self.
Miley Cyrus Breaks Silence on Rootsy New Music, Fiance Liam Hemsworth & America: ‘Unity Is What We Need’
Well above California’s Pacific Coast Highway, just off a canyon road, sits a small house with a wooden porch painted in the colors of the Pride flag. The outside is decorated with frog planters, butterfly chairs, a hot-pink pig-shaped grill, sunflowers and daisies. This is Rainbow Land, the boho recording studio whose owner, Miley Cyrus, is on this sunny April afternoon sitting cross-legged in a swivel chair before a sound board, dressed way down with unruly long hair, cutoffs and a vintage tee that reads “Malibu” on the front.
Cyrus — who’s about to play me 10 songs off a new album that promises to (yet again) transform one of the most inimitable, unpredictable careers in recent pop history — is somehow animated and serene at the same time. It’s clear from the way her words tumble forth that she’s breaking a months long self-imposed “media blackout” and eager to unpack her latest thinking on everything from her alienation from hip-hop to engaging with Donald Trump’s supporters.
Miley Cyrus treated teens from My Friend’s Place — a Los Angeles-area center that assists homeless youth — to a special day on The Voice set.
The excited group sported Happy Hippie T-shirts as they toured the backstage, took turns sitting in the famous red judge’s seats and watched a taping of the show. They also got a chance to sit down with the Season 11 coach to discuss the importance of music in their lives and the issues that they face as homeless teens.
“On The Voice I’ve heard so many people’s stories now,” says Cyrus in a clip shared exclusively with PEOPLE. “To be able to have the spotlight on people that don’t usually have the spotlight on them is why I’m here and why it’s really important for y’all to be here and to just see who’s on that stage.”
