Miley Cyrus was one of the stars heavily involved in Global Citizen’s ‘Global Goal: Unite for Our Future’ that took place last weekend (Saturday 27th June) with the aim of Global Goal to secure the big bucks needed to ensure COVID-19 tests, and ultimately treatments and vaccines, are available to everyone who needs them.

Miley performed a a “noteworthy” cover of the Beatles “Help!”, but was inspired by Dolly Parton’s version of the song, in an empty Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, California.

The word “Help!” was spelled out in HUGE letters across the stadium’s field, with Miley performing the song “Help!” on the exclamation point.

Global Citizen’s “One World: Together at Home” special in mid-April wasn’t the last of its COVID-19-era all-star shows. The org announced Sunday night that a new special is in the offing — “Global Goal: United for Our Future — The Concert,” set to go out globally June 27 on television, radio and streaming services, including NBC and iHeartMedia in America.

Dwayne Johnson will host the prime-time telecast, which is not a telethon but aims to “combat the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on marginalized communities” and urge governments around the world to make testing and future vaccines available for the less advantaged.

Performers announced include Coldplay (one of the first artists to align with Global Citizen), Justin Bieber with Quavo, Miley Cyrus, Shakira, J Balvin, Chloe x Halle, Christine and the Queens, Usher and Yemi Alade.

The concert special follows “Global Goal: Unite for Our Future — The Summit,” a series of discussions on scientific progress having to do with vaccines and therapeutics.

Miley Cyrus unleashed Can’t Be Tamed on this day (June 18) in 2010. With raunchy — by Disney’s standards — bangers, outspoken lyrics and club beats, it was the first step towards burying Hannah Montana. RIP. The era got off to a flying start with the title track, which duly cracked the top 10, but the album failed to produce further hits. Yes, it’s hard to believe that iconic bops like “Who Owns My Heart,” “Liberty Walk” and “Permanent December” didn’t slay the charts. And I haven’t even reached the album’s true highlight yet.

Can’t Be Tamed was essentially split in half. Rock Mafia produced the first six tracks, while John Shanks tackled the last six. Which resulted in an opus front-loaded with then-hot electro-pop, followed by tracks with a little more introspection. (Shanks single-handedly crafted the guitar-pop sound of the mid-’00s with cuts on Kelly Clarkson’s BreakawayAshlee Simpson’s Autobiography and Hilary Duff’s self-titled album). The best song they conjured together was the anthemic “My Heart Beats For Love.”

“I’m calling out, can you hear my voice? I’m gonna find you through all the noise,” Miley begins the rousing tune over a church organ and strummed guitar. “You know there’s nothing that I wouldn’t do, shine your light as I reach for you.” That takes us to the genuinely lovely chorus. “My heart beats for love, my heart beats for love,” the Bangerz legend croons. “It’s the sound that I hear, tells me not to give up.” Think of this as an early indication of the pop star’s vocal prowess and affinity with country-adjacent sounds.

Impressively, “My Heart Beats For You” also doubles as a Pride anthem. “I wrote [the song] for my best friend… who is gay,” Miley told an interviewer in 2010. “I wrote it for him and about how people can be very judgmental. So I think love is kinda like the, you know, morals that I have that I put into my songs, and I think that’s really important. Telling people not to discriminate, and not to judge, and to just be open to the world.” Bow down to a true ally and revisit the lost hit that is “My Heart Beats For Love” below.

ALMA recently opened up to People about her rise to fame and collaborating with Miley Cyrus.

ALMA has cowritten multiple hits with Cyrus, including the riotous “Mother’s Daughter,” divorce kiss-off “Slide Away” and the latest Charlie’s Angels theme, “Don’t Call Me Angel” (with Ariana Grande and Lana Del Rey).

“We met at a party and she was like, ‘Hey, your album is super cool,’ and I was just like, ‘Yep. You’re Miley Cyrus and you’re super cool too.’ I’ve always been a Miley fan and I love powerful, female artist who does what the f— they want to do — and she’s like queen of that,” ALMA says.

The artists hit it off immediately after they met.

“Literally, the next day we were in the studio and we were making music and actually, the first song we did together was ‘Slide Away.’ I feel like we were in the same place in life, like we had same things in our head and it was a connection we both really needed,” ALMA says. “It was just so easy to write all of the songs. It was like we’re not trying much — they just came. We both have the same energy: It’s just very fast and very real and very honest.”
